Learn & Workplace – Training for Neuro Diverse learners

Neuro diverse learners will often need life-long guidance with different basic needs: not only during school, but also to recruit a position at the workplace. Assisting in and maintaining with work is not enough. Some of these youth will not be able to obtain a permanent job in the workplace even with the guidance of a coach.

Neuro diverse students have problems finding appropriate work. Therefore, it is important to monitor and guide them into the workplace. They need extra practice towards improvement of their social and labor skills. These skills need to move on as a red line true the teaching career and the career of the neuro diverse youth. The practice of these skills needs an important place during education and during the assistance of these youth at the workplace.

Regular employers in society normally don’t have the time or knowledge to create a workplace and to offer sufficient guidance to these special learners. The Learn and Workplace can play an important role in this.

During the school years students will practice various basic skills during internship in several workplaces and at school. After they finish school the transition to work is often difficult for neuro diverse students. Many of them get no work or stay at home. After some time without continued support, they will lose their acquired skills which they learned at school and fall behind making it difficult to build an independent path in life.

It is important to understand the issues of these young people so one can provide them with the right guidance in their work.

Therefore, Muchila Creativo started in September 2024, with a Learn and Workplace opportunity for students who complete the three-year program of the secondary Arts-Based school for special learners, so they can continue to develop their abilities in the workplace at Violet Center for the Arts.

The Learn and Workplace can play a major role in training and certifying young people, with the labor market as a starting point.  During the Workplace they will develop life skills within a multifaceted approach to increase everyone’s ability to live with greater independence. The emphasis is on developing skills and learning new tasks and activities related to the profile in a realistic environment.

Muchila Creativo as a provider of the Learn and Workplace gives people without access to education, the opportunity to develop further and career guidance for decent work and economic Growth (SDG 8)

The underlying objective is to provide innovative choices for every individual to pursue meaningful, paid employment, instilling in them a sense of self-worth and self-esteem, and promoting independence as a contributing member to the Aruban economy.
